My Country, Right or Wrong (Part I)

I've always want to say write about this.

Maybe this is just a really skeptical view about the issue, but I don't think corruption in Indonesia won't be banished anytime soon.

I mean, they all say, "eradicate corruption" everywhere, but they only have the bravery to say, not to act.

Example:
1. When I was making my driver's license, there was a banner hanging in the testing place "No shortcuts" (Er, I don't know what calo is in English; I guess it's about someone who took care something for you in order to get the bureaucracy process faster, especially in processing documents such as citizen card and driver's licenses. Calo is usually seen in a bad light. Indonesia is infamous for having such a complicated bureaucracy, ftw) Heck, screw the rules, I used shortcuts anyways! If I don't use the shortcut, God knows when my driver's license will be finished, and I still have to deal with the "extortion" (it came out of Google translate when I inserted pungutan liar, so yeah.). Rather than be ping-ponged to here and there, and have to pay something that isn't in the official rules, I'd rather use shortcuts. So yeah. Even if I hate it, maybe I can't live without it.
My friend even remarked once "I paid the officer only IDR 10,000; and so he made me wait for a long time to be called to get my driver's license. The one who came after me who paid larger sum was called first. They were sick!"
So.. Yeah.
2. More about extortions... When my friend was parking in a place in South Jakarta, she was charged IDR 3,000. When she paid IDR 5,000, the parking guy said that he had no change so he can't return the change. Oh well. In front of us there was a banner, with big words saying "THIS AREA IS FREE OF EXTORTIONS". And there was even a police box near there. Ironic.

OK, I'm about to go to work (To the west end of Jakarta; my house is on the far southeast. Sigh). So I have to postpone continuing this. Expect the next series of this article in the next 123456789 years again (lol)

P. S. Yu-gi-oh: The Abridged Series is so funny! You should watch it even if you're not a fan of the show, just for the lol.
